SugaCayne Designs is a boutique design house that produces Caribbean carnival costumes & accessories for Toronto, Cayman, Miami, Chicago and Trinidad. To provide some background, Caribbean Carnival is a yearly celebration in most Caribbean nations that originated in Trinidad and dates back to the 18th century with a long-standing tradition of elaborate and detailed costume production techniques. Toronto's version of Carnival began in 1967 as a one-time gift from the Canadian Government, in celebration of their Centennial year of independence. Fifty-plus (50+) years later, now known as The Toronto Caribbean Carnival, has grown to become North America's largest street festival and the second largest Caribbean Carnival in the world, attracting over 1.3 million visitors and generating over $400M annually during the first week of August.
We bring a unique carnival design aesthetic and “mas-building” experience to local and international Caribbean carnivals. We have been creating intricately designed carnival costumes for the better part of the last decade.
We are committed to putting the "fun" in functional costumes. While shopping with us, we want you to be completely happy with the experience. If you have questions about us, our products, or even shipping, get in touch! We hope you continue to shop with us for many years to come.
Our application of the concepts and traditions have also become a great educational tool for our volunteers and student participants during high season and through year-round workshops.
