2018 - Toronto - Indigo ink

Our Theme: Why Indigo?

Indigo is among the oldest inks and was the foundation of centuries-old textile traditions throughout West Africa. From the Tuareg nomads of the Sahara to Cameroon, clothes dyed with indigo signified wealth. Historically, indigo was a natural ink extracted from the leaves of certain plants and is the blue often associated with denim cloth and blue jeans. Indigo. Innovative Designs

We are now entering our 8th season designing and producing costumes for Peeks Toronto's Caribbean Carnival , and there's nothing like it! In 2017 we advanced costume design through a partnership with Ryerson University's Design Fabrication Zone. The  Chrysalis Project leveraged advanced digital design and fabrication methods, while maintaining artistic integrity rooted in culture. We look forward to continuing our partnership with Ryerson for 2018 and beyond. Contact us for details.
